2021 has come to an end. Looking at the global supply chain, port congestion is still the most difficult problem. Several ports in Southeast Asia are congested.

To this end, a number of shipping companies issued notices of freight increases. This means that the sea freight in Southeast Asia is about to rise.

Port congestion and shortage of shipping space

According to the latest data, at present, many ports in Southeast Asia are blocked. The details are as follows:

  • Tanjung Priok in Jakarta is 6.7% higher than the normal value;

  • The congestion rate of Port Klang in Malaysia is 14.5% higher than the normal value;

  • The congestion rate of Tanjung pelepas port is 29.9% higher than the normal value;

In fact, because the small boats in Southeast Asia are bidding for the route, they have won the bid by the Philippines and Japan. Therefore, if ships are needed on Southeast Asian routes, they can only be increased from Philippine and Japanese routes at high prices.

This will directly lead to the rise in freight prices of Southeast Asian routes. A similar situation occurred on European and American lines last year.

As the supply of ships is in short supply, many freight forwarders have also announced price increases. The average increase is about 100 yuan / m3.

Previously, the cost of the seller increased due to the rise in the price of raw materials. Now, coupled with the rise of logistics costs, it is even worse for sellers.

A survey shows that the most seriously affected line is the Singapore line; Followed by Malaysia and Thailand. Some experts said that the goods that can be delivered this week should be completed this week as far as possible, because the price next week may be higher.

  • Shekou Port - ports such as Incheon and Busan, South Korea, with a price increase of USD500 / 1000 / 1000

  • Shekou Port - Bangkok and lincha port, Thailand, with a price increase of usd350 / 700 / 700

After the congestion in California ports, some shipping companies diverted their ships on the Asia US West Coast route to Asia.

The end of the year is the peak season for cargo transportation in Asia, and a large number of goods are transported out of Asia. Shipping companies can maximize profits through the transfer of transport capacity.
