Now the shipping market is booming, and a large number of ships are moving on the sea. There will inevitably be some accidents.

On October 22, a container named "Zim Kingston" encountered bad weather on its way to Vancouver Port.

The accident occurred in the Juan de FUCA Strait. In the process, the ship tilted, causing about 40 containers to fall into the water. And at least two containers falling into the water contain combustible dangerous goods.

The container ship was built in 2008 with a capacity of 4253teu and is owned by DANAOS company.

The Victoria coast guard of Canada and the United States Coast Guard issued a warning on October 22 that ships passing through the Juan de FUCA Strait need to pay attention to containers floating in the channel.

By 4 p.m., eight containers had been found, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard.

To make matters worse, the container ship caught fire

After 40 containers fell into the water, the Zim Kingston container ship anchored near Victoria port in Vancouver, and the ship caught fire on October 23.

The Canadian Coast Guard said 10 containers were on fire, two of which contained dangerous inflammables.

At present, 16 crew members have been evacuated from the ship, and another 5 people are putting out fire on the ship. At the same time, the Canadian Coast Guard set up a warning area within one nautical mile of the ship.

On October 23, DANAOS, the container ship's management company, issued a statement saying: "no casualties have been reported." the fire has been basically controlled and the crew has been arranged to return safely.

The Canadian Coast Guard said it was working with its American counterparts to track 40 containers that fell into the water. These containers are about 22 kilometers from the west coast of Vancouver Island, near Banfield.

Some experts said that even if the fire was basically extinguished, the consequences of the accident will be huge.Shipowners of undamaged containers will face long delivery delays.

Therefore, the freight forwarder who has goods on the ship in the near future should pay attention to the information of the shipping company and ship dynamics in time. At the same time, understand the delay of shipping schedule.
