Fortunately, US President Biden just announced a tentative railway worker agreement to avoid national railway strikes. This means that the main union and negotiating representatives of the railway have reached a preliminary agreement.

It is understood that the new agreement will improve the salary and working conditions of railway workers. The agreement will provide employees with a wage growth of 24% within five years from 2020 to 2024, and pay $ 11,000 to each union member after approval.

Railway transportation accounts for about 30%of the total freight in the United States. The US Railway Association (AAR) previously estimated that if the strike occurred, the US economy would lose up to $ 2 billion daily.

At the same time, this may trigger a series of transportation issues that affect US energy, agriculture, manufacturing and retail.

The negotiations between the railway company and the 12 railway workers and trade unions have lasted for more than two years. In July this year, the Bayeng government appointed the emergency committee to help break the deadlock.

In fact, the balance of work and life and the controversial attendance system are one of the crux of negotiation. The new temporary agreement contains the issues that the attendance system and other workers' association negotiations want to solve.
