The United States will build a largest dry port to relieve the transfer pressure of LA / LB port

As we all know, LA / LB port in the United States is the most important port on the west coast and even in the world. This makes these two ports have to accept and transfer a large number of goods every day.

Recently, officials in Kern County, California, have approved the establishment of California's first inland port in the middle of the Mojave desert. This is a 410 acre container hub, which will become the largest inland port in the United States.

This will effectively relieve the transfer pressure of LA / LB port.

The goods unloaded from LA / LB port will be transported to the newly built Mojave inland port along the Alameda corridor track by railway, with a total length of about 90 nautical miles.

Then, the goods are transferred from the inland port of Mojave to trucks for further distribution through two main highways. The empty container will return to the port of Southern California by rail.

By transferring more goods to the railway, Mojave inland port aims to reduce the waiting time of trucks in Los Angeles and long beach ports, thereby reducing cargo congestion and carbon emissions.

At the same time, it will reduce the container demurrage or reduce the cost of shipping, and greatly accelerate the speed of consumers receiving goods.

The project will be constructed and operated by pioneer partners, headquartered in Houston. As early as 1991, the company purchased the 400 acre Mojave site.

The project is expected to cost about US $75 million. It will be officially started in 2023 and completed and put into operation in 2024.

After being put into operation, Mojave inland port is expected to handle up to 3600 trucks per day and 3 million containers per year. This will greatly relieve the transshipment pressure of Los Angeles and long beach ports.

At present, the port of Los Angeles and the port of Long Beach handle more than 20 million containers each year, and it is expected that the number will rise to 34 million by 2030.

At the same time, Mojave inland port will provide truck, rail and air transfer options. The site is adjacent to Mojave Aerospace port.

This is a fully operational airport, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It has a runway of 12500 feet and can accommodate large commercial cargo planes.

So, customers also have the opportunity to use the long-distance running track of Mojave Aerospace port to handle air cargo. Once completed, this inland port will also become one of the few hubs in the world that can provide railway, truck and air transport options.

Mojave inland port is most likely to serve containers transporting consumer goods from Asia, which accounts for 40% of the freight volume through the ports of Los Angeles and long beach.

After the completion of Mohave inland port, it can provide up to 3000 new jobs and generate more than 500 million US dollars of economic impact each year.
