In the context of high global inflation, many countries around the world set off a wave of strikes. Especially the strike of truck and railway workers.

This will aggravate the congestion of the port and even hinder the normal operation of the port.

For a long time before the labor negotiations in the western port of the United States, the industry expressed concern about the possible strike caused by the outcome of the negotiations, although in the end it did.

No agreement was reached before the expiration of the original contract, but the port workers have not held the relevant strike action, but the truck drivers in the port have started the strike action.

It is reported that last week, drivers in Los Angeles and Long Beach port went on strike to protest the controversial law "AB5".

This week, an estimated 400 truck drivers managed to block truck traffic at three docks in Auckland port to protest the law "AB5".

These strikers, composed of truck drivers, blocked trucks from entering the port by blocking the gate of the port dock.

Although the dock opened the back door briefly to allow the company's trucks to enter, the truck drivers then blocked their access. Some drivers were forced to turn around and leave the port.

On Monday, the SSA, trapac and everport terminals in Auckland port announced that night shift working hours would be cancelled.

Due to the impact of striking drivers, only two company trucks are allowed to enter the dock gate every hour. At ordinary times, at least 250 trucks pass through the dock gate every hour.

Truck drivers in Oakland port also went on strike because a California law called AB5 will come into force. The law aims to restrict the use of independent operators and to a large extent reclassify drivers as employees.

Most truck drivers in the state want to maintain their identity as independent operators and do not want to become an employee driver.

On the other hand, in Europe, hundreds of dock workers in Liverpool port, England, will vote to decide whether to strike on wages. If the vote is passed, the port operation may be interrupted.

Unite union said that the dispute was caused by mdhc's failure to provide a reasonable salary. It added that the final salary increase of 7% was far lower than the current real inflation rate of 11.7%.

Steven Gerrard, an official of unite trade union, said: "the strike action will inevitably seriously affect shipping and road transportation, and cause supply chain disruption, but it is all caused by pier port group."

As the second largest port group in Britain, pier port group handles more than 70million tons of goods every year. The strike vote will begin on July 25. If the vote is passed, the port may hold a strike in August.

GLA once again reminds the freight forwarders and shippers to pay attention to the latest developments of the port in time to avoid the delay of delivery of your goods caused by port congestion.
