According to the latest freight rate index, the falling freight rate for 17 consecutive weeks finally stopped last week. The freight rate index from Asia to the US West Route rose by US $1186 compared with the previous week.

The latest Baltic Sea Freight Index (FBX) rose 3% from the previous week to US $8466 / FEU, the first rise after a continuous decline.

On the trans Pacific route, the FBX freight rate index of Asia West US Route rose US $1186 to US $13698 / FEU compared with the previous week; The Asia East US Route dropped to US $15931 / FEU.

In addition, the route from Asia to northern Europe rose to US $10583 / FEU, and the route from Asia to the Mediterranean rose to US $12833 / FEU.

Ningbo Export Container Freight Index (NCFI) rose to 3480.6 points, up 0.6% from last week. Among them, the freight rate index of 12 routes rose.

The Drury World Container Index (WCI) fell slightly, with a price of US $7648 / FEU, but this value is still higher than last year. Drury expects freight rates to remain stable in the coming weeks.

In this regard, de Luli said: "the strategies adopted by shipping companies in response to demand shocks have a greater impact on freight rates than changes in demand."

It also said that the general congestion of ports and the bottleneck of inland transportation are also important factors to support freight rates.

Now the liner companies are influencing the freight rate more by controlling the transportation capacity. As the current factors affecting freight rates are more complex, freight rate prediction will become more difficult.

Several flights were cancelled

According to Drury's latest report, there are 742 scheduled voyages in the main voyages across the Pacific and from Asia to northern Europe. However, nearly 73 voyages were cancelled, most of them on the trans Pacific eastbound route.

It is understood that in the next few weeks, the world's three major shipping alliances will cancel 58 voyages. Among them, 23 voyages were cancelled at 2M, 20 voyages were cancelled by THE Alliance, and 15 voyages were cancelled by the Ocean Alliance.

Some experts pointed out that the closure in Shanghai is expected to end in June. At that time, all economic activities will suddenly return to near normal levels.

This is likely to have another major impact on the global supply chain. In particular, ports in the United States and Nordic countries may receive more containers from Shanghai port.

If trade remains strong, port congestion in the United States and Europe could worsen significantly, bringing further delays and costs to already troubled shippers.
