Multinational port workers and truck drivers strike, and the supply chain may be affected again

It is reported that several associations of the Spanish Ministry of transport called on local truck drivers to hold an indefinite strike throughout the country from March 14.

"90% of small and medium-sized transport companies are in a state of complete bankruptcy. All paid drivers will bear the consequences directly and we will defend them in the necessary litigation," the association said in a statement

Some logistics experts expect that the strike will directly affect the container transportation in the country. Maersk said in a recent advisory report that the strike of truck drivers in Spain could lead to the interruption of container transportation in the country.

"Considering the announced strike, the transportation of containers will become a challenge. Due to these external reasons, we can't control it, and our transportation plan will also be affected."

According to local media reports, the action is to call for condemnation of rising operating costs, including fuel.

In fact, since the beginning of last year, the price of gasoline and other fuels in the country has been rising. Coupled with the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the already high fuel prices continue to rise.

Data show that last week, Spain's No. 95 gasoline reached 1680 euros per liter; Diesel has also reached 1581 euros per litre.

This is a huge cost for the transportation industry that needs gasoline to do business. Therefore, Spanish truck drivers have to ask the government to control the price of gasoline in this way.

Indian dockers are also planning a strike

In addition to the indefinite strike by Spanish truck drivers, the port and terminal union of India's main government also plans to hold a strike again after a series of negotiations failed.

The union said it would hold a strike in early April to put pressure on the government and port authorities.
