At the end of May this year, a new round of epidemic occurred in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, which greatly impacted Yantian port, the largest port in Shenzhen. Workers all need to go home for isolation,

The sudden rebound of the epidemic has led to chaos in the operation of many ports. A large number of containers are piled up in the ports. According to statistics, the efficiency of the terminals is only 40%.

By the end of June, due to the improvement of the epidemic situation, Yantian Port was able to fully resume normal operation. But during this period, Nansha port has helped a lot.

According to the CEO of Nansha port, the closure of Yantian Port has led to a sharp increase in pressure on Nansha port in the Pearl River Delta. He pointed out that due to the congestion of Yantian port, the number of vessels berthing at Nansha port has increased by 50, with a total of nearly 250000 TEUs, which has brought great pressure to the operation of Nansha port.

Fortunately, Nansha Port withstood the pressure and successfully ushered in the comprehensive recovery of Yantian port. As of early July, Yantian Port has added 15 new international routes, and it is expected that more routes will be added in the future.

South China port will resume operation, and the freight volume of California will continue to grow

As we all know, this year's shipping market is facing various problems caused by overstocking of goods, delay of ships and shortage of shipping space.

Nevertheless, with the recovery of Global trade, the demand of European and American countries is also rising, and the demand far exceeds the supply of transport capacity.

The port of Los Angeles in the west of the United States released the data for June earlier. The data is very objective, and it is expected that the freight volume in July will be higher, and the number of container ships berthing in San Pedro Bay will rise again.

It was reported that the total throughput in June was 864390 TEUs, down 11.5% from the monthly record of 1 million TEUs set in May. Among them, the import volume in June was 474663 TEUs, also 10% lower than that in May.

This is due to the rebound of epidemic situation in South China ports during that period. In order to prevent and control the epidemic situation, South China ports once suspended imports from California ports.

Nearly a quarter of the ships in California's ports came from South China. Because of the impact of the epidemic at that time, less than 40% of the ships left the South China port, which reduced the number of ships entering the California port.

Gene seroka, executive director of the port of Los Angeles, said: 'we are pleased to see the full resumption of operations of ports in South China, which means that more ships will come to us this month and August.

"Business is likely to surge in July and August, and all indications are that the second half of 2021 will be busy," seroka said.
